About OSIA

The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America was founded in New York City in 1905. It is the first, largest and most demographically diverse organization representing Italian-American men and women in the U.S. Today OSIA has more than 600,000 members and supporters and a network of more than 650 chapters (lodges) coast to coast. The missions of OSIA include encouraging the study of Italian language and culture, preserving Italian-American traditions, culture, history and heritage, and promoting closer cultural relations between the U.S. and Italy. OSIA participates in many philanthropic activities. Through the Sons of Italy Foundation, to date they have given over $120 million to scholarships, medical research, cultural preservation, disaster relief and other causes.

Watsonville Lodge #2016 was chartered November 18, 1951. In addition to upholding the principals of the National Mission, they participate in local philanthropic and social undertakings. This year they donated $10,000 in scholarships to local high school students of Italian descent. They also support the Cooley’s Anemia and Alzheimer’s Associations, the Volunteer Center’s Human Race, the Pajaro Valley Historical Association, the P.V. Agricultural History Project, Pajaro Boy Scout Troop 505, and other charitable causes as the need arises.

OSIA is for people of any gender, age, religion and profession. You don’t even have to be Italian to join! Whether you are of Italian heritage or simply have a love for things Italian, OSIA welcomes you.
